Pchum Ben at Bodhikaram Temple, Ottawa, On Sept. 28, 2008

Phchum Ben is the most important ceremony in Buddhist Religion. Traditionally this event, every year, falls on the 15th of waning moon of the 10th months in lunar calendar (month phatrabot), called “Phchum Ben” (Offering food to the spirit of ancestors). This religious ceremony aims to pave the way for ourselves in the after-life, and a chance of provisioning food and clothes to our relatives who had passed away.

The Monks and board of directors of the Mondul Ottawa Khmer Buddhist Monastery would like to invite you and your family to join us in this very special occasion which will be held on the date and time below:

9:00 am : Arrival of guests.
9:30 am : Paying respects to the Triple-Gem and taking the Five Precepts.
10:30 am :Putting alms in to alms-bowls, Food Offering to the Monks.
11:00 am :Blessing given by the Monks, Lunch of Monks, sermon.
12:00 am : Communal Lunch.
